Bacterial wilt of Cucurbits
Symptom
The disease is caused by Erwinia bacteria. Leaves first become pale green and wilt, usually starting from the lower leaves and gradually spreading upward. Occasionally, the entire plant may suddenly wilt. During the daytime, the wilted plant may recover slightly at night, but eventually, wilting becomes permanent. When a wilted stem is cut open, a sticky bacterial ooze can be observed. The pathogen spreads through wounds caused by beetles.
