Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus disease

Symptom

Disease symptoms vary depending on the host plant. On young leaves and fruit surfaces, scattered green spots appear, while on some young leaves, prominent leaf veins and blister-like lesions develop, potentially causing wilting of infected plants. In some young plants, interveinal chlorosis appears on leaves, and dark brown necrotic spots develop on stems and fruit peduncles. Leaves become pale, wilt, and the entire plant may die prematurely. However, in open-field crops, leaf symptoms sometimes disappear. Fruits from infected plants exhibit malformation, softening, and internal decay, rendering them unmarketable. Although seed transmission is possible, it is rare. The disease can also spread through handling of infected plants, which may transmit the pathogen to healthy plants.
