Red Pumpkin Beetle
Symptom
Both striped and spotted beetles are commonly found together. The eggs are laid in the soil, and the adults, which are reddish-yellow in color, cause damage. On the leaves, adults feed and create injury, while at the roots they gnaw and damage the plant base. Circular feeding marks can be observed on the leaves, and in cases of severe infestation, the leaves wither and dry up. When they bore into fruits, the affected fruits decay and drop prematurely. In muskmelon, they also serve as vectors for bacterial wilt disease.
