Melon Fruit Fly
Symptom
Infestation occurs at the flowering and fruit-setting stages. The female fruit fly inserts its ovipositor through the fruit skin and deposits eggs beneath the surface. Within 1–3 days, the larvae hatch and feed inside the fruit, causing rotting and internal damage, which eventually leads to premature fruit drop and loss. Note: Preventive spraying should be carried out starting from the flowering and fruit-setting stages.
