Large cabbage-heart caterpillar
Symptom
Eggs laid on cabbage leaves hatch into larvae that feed voraciously on the foliage. Young caterpillars are greenish-yellow, turning bright green as they mature. When eggs are deposited on the cabbage head, the larvae spin a silken web around the area and feed inside. Infestations result in skeletonized leaves where only the veins remain, along with visible frass and holes on the cabbage heads. Feeding damage to the inner leaves prevents proper head formation, leading to misshapen and unmarketable cabbages.
