Damping-off

Symptom

The disease is caused by fungi. At the seedling stage, particularly under high soil moisture conditions, the stem base in contact with the soil becomes soft, decays, and the plant eventually dies. In field, roots turn brown and rot. Several fungal species are responsible for this damping-off condition. Use seed treatment fungicides and soil-applied fungicides for effective control.
