Stem Rot

Symptom

The basal part of the plant is prone to rotting. In the seedling stage, infected plants often collapse and fall over. In mature plants, symptoms begin with yellowing, followed by complete wilting and eventual plant death. Fungal mycelia are often visible around the base of the stem, covering the soil surface near the plant.
