Symptom

The disease is caused by mycoplasma like organism, which is transmitted by the vector brown plant hopper. The symptom starts with vein clearing of leaves. Small leaves and malformed flowers cluster at the top and the flower become sterile with green leafy structures. Plants with reduced internodes and gives bushy appearance, resulting in a witches-broom.
