Sesamum Sphingid/ Death's Head Moth

Symptom

The larvae are mainly nocturnal and prefer younger leaves, often stripping growing shoots, particularly in the final instar. Numerous holes appearing in young leaves are usually the first sign of an infestation. Turning over shoots will reveal larvae resting beneath the leaves along the main veins. Entire crops can be defoliated when infestations are severe, with masses of black droppings left on the ground.
