Thrip
Symptom
By extracting the sap from flowers, the pests cause them to wither and eventually drop. They pierce and feed on the sap from the undersides of young and mature leaves, as well as the surface of developing fruits. In severe infestations, this results in brown, sunburn-like spots on leaves and silvery or brown scars on fruit surfaces. The pests affect plants from one week after emergence until the fruiting stage. In monsoon rice crops, infestations typically occur between June and September. When infestations are severe, affected rice seedlings become stunted, significantly reducing yield.
