Sclerotium wilt

Symptom

This disease is caused by the fungus Sclerotium. The stem near the soil line becomes soft and rotted, causing the stem base to collapse. The decayed area at the stem base is covered with dense, white, cottony fungal mycelium. White to dark-brown, sclerotium-like fungal bodies can also be observed at the base of the plant. Above-ground parts of the plant gradually wilt. The disease is most prevalent during hot and dry seasons.
