Due to the feeding activity of thrips on the base and outer surface of young pods, scars develop, eventually leading to hardened, deformed, and bronze-colored lesions. Inside flowers, thrips damage the base of stamens and developing ovules, resulting in flower drop and a reduction in fruit formation. When they pierce young leaves and buds, they destroy outer plant cells while extracting sap, causing sap leakage and leading to silvery patches on the leaves. In some cases, pods may exhibit a reddish-brown appearance. Affected leaves become misshapen, curling and twisting abnormally.
